In the quiet hour before sunrise, a red-shouldered hawk will often break the stillness with a call that carries across Fore Lake, where open water is ringed by marshes and a scrub landscape of saw palmetto and live oaks. The campground sits along the shores of Fore Lake Recreation Area, a compact stretch of picnic tables and a swim-friendly shoreline where birders can easily scan marsh edges for waders and warblers. A pier and a canoe launch give easy access to the water for anglers and paddlers; bring your rod and expect to be able to fish directly from the pier or launch a canoe into relatively sheltered lake water. Mornings can be foggy here, which sharpens the light and the bird song but dissipates into warm, clear afternoons ideal for a swim or a shoreline walk. The campsite area itself contains 31 total campsites 31 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites tucked between the palmetto clumps and oaks, so family tents and small camping trailers are both accommodated. Basic on-site amenities include a bathhouse with showers and flush toilets, plus a dump station that is free for paid campers. Campers are limited to a maximum stay of 14 consecutive days within any 30-day period; the nightly fee is $20. Reservations or refund requests are handled by calling (877) 444-6777, and because the location has limited staffing you should call (352) 625-2520 for general information before you arrive.

“Deer flies, mosquitos ,in warmer months , not so much so in cooler months. Yellow jackets nest in area somewhere because when cooking food, they show up. ”
“Awsome semi secluded camp sites as well as a beautiful lake. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.”
