Facts checked 2026-10-18 on:
Primitive campground on Garden Key, a short walk from the public dock at Fort Jefferson, reached only by the Yankee Freedom ferry, private boat or a permitted guide (the seaplane does not carry campers). The eight regular sites (up to six people and three tents each) are first come, first served; the ferry carries at most 10 campers a day, and everyone who arrives is guaranteed a spot, with a shared overflow area when the sites are full. One group site for 10–20 people must be reserved with the park. There is no fresh water, no showers and no electricity: bring all water, food and a tent, and pack out all trash.
