Lake Shore Group Camp sits on the north shore of Fore Lake inside Ocala National Forest, offering a single, dedicated group site that serves scout troops, church groups, and large-family reunions. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 1 site type breakdown: 1 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites and the area can accommodate up to 50 guests. The site is primarily laid out for tent camping, though there is a small parking area where RVs may be left; campsites are arrayed both in shade and sun, all within sight of the 12-acre lake rimmed by marshes, saw palmetto and oaks. The facility's large, accessible picnic shelter is the focal point for group meals and meetings, with a group grill, multiple picnic tables, and a restroom building that includes flush toilets and showers. Fore Lake gives the camp a quiet, water-focused character: birding along the marshy shore is excellent, anglers can fish from shore, and there's a boat ramp for electric-motor boats, canoes and kayaks. Swimming is allowed, but campers should exercise caution because alligators inhabit the lake. The campground sits in the historic Scrambletown community, which has a local store, and the wider Ocala National Forest offers extensive off-road trail systems for ATVs and Jeeps and nearby opportunities for deer hunting. For access, the site is reached from the Ocala area via State Road 40 into the forest near County Road 314 and 147th Avenue; check the Forest Service website or local ranger district for current fees, reservation requirements, seasonal closures and any access restrictions before you go.
