Pinecrest Group Campground is a small, primitive group site located in a clearing alongside historic Loop Road within Big Cypress National Preserve. The campground contains 4 total campsites, and all 4 accommodate both RVs and tents, but the term "accommodate" here means space is available there are no electrical hookups, water, or toilets on site. Each group pad includes a picnic table and a fire ring; there are no covered picnic structures and only minimal shade from surrounding pine and oak trees, so plan for sun and bring your own water and sanitation supplies. The road access is straightforward from the Tamiami Trail (US-41): travel to Loop Road and follow signs for the campground, and for up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal access or road conditions call the preserve at (239) 631-9988 before you go. The site is a convenient jumping-off point for the variety of recreation Big Cypress supports: at Pinecrest you can launch paddling trips, walk nearby trails for birding and hiking, fish where allowed, and participate in seasonal hunting with the proper license; the broader preserve also offers auto touring, biking, boating, historic and cultural sites, picnicking, and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities. The landscape here reflects the preserve's role protecting the freshwaters of the Big Cypress Swamp pine and oak communities that buffer the Everglades and support coastal estuaries so wildlife is a constant presence, and the preserve is home to species such as the endangered Florida panther. If your group needs more interpretation or services, the Miccosukee Cultural Center, Oasis Visitor Center, and the Shark Valley area are all within easy driving distance along Loop Road.

“Very isolated. Enjoyed getting away from civilization!”
“We had a fantastic stay with great facilities. The only challenge was that we didn’t have a code/key for the padlock on the gate, which meant we had to park outside the area. It would be great if this could be resolved for future guests.”
“Part of me wants to rate this as horrible just to keep it secret but I wont. We love staying at Pinecrest! Watch out for crows, snakes and fire ants. ”
