Lake Seminole is a large, engineered reservoir created by the Jim Woodruff Lock & Dam project; the lake itself covers 37,500 acres with about 376 miles of shoreline and is ringed by roughly 18,000 acres of pine and hardwood forest on rolling hills. That mix of shallow grass beds and standing stumps makes the lake one of the region's stronger fisheries more than 79 species of fish have been recorded here, including largemouth, hybrid, striped and white bass, plus healthy populations of catfish, crappie and bream so anglers will find both boat and bank opportunities. Wildlife is abundant along the shore and in the woods: expect to see wading and diving ducks, hawks and the occasional bald eagle, as well as raccoons, alligators and turtles. Beyond fishing, the lake supports boating, water sports, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing and environmental education, so Faceville Landing functions as an access point for a wide range of outdoor activities on and around Seminole. Faceville Landing Park itself is compact and simple: the picnic shelter sits in a quiet cove with 8 picnic tables and a grill, and there is a fishing pier and a boat ramp for lake access. Facilities are basic there is a pit-toilet style restroom within walking distance of the shelter, and no potable water or electrical hookups at the shelter so plan to bring your own water and power supplies. Camping at Faceville is extremely limited: the park offers 1 campsite total, a single tent-only site, making this a primitive, low-density spot rather than a developed campground. The park is reached via GA Highway 97 (Faceville Highway) south of Bainbridge, with Faceville Landing Road running down to the park; for current fees, reservation policies, seasonal availability or other facility-specific questions call (229) 662-2001.
